White, Andy:
It is with deep sadness we announce that Andy, with loved ones by his side, went peacefully to be with Jesus on June 1st, 2024 after a fall in his home resulted in a traumatic brain injury.
Andy was a caring and thoughtful person, showing concern with what was going on in other peoples’ lives. He enjoyed laughing with people and making them laugh.
Andy took pride in living independently and enjoyed taking care of his house: pulling weeds, shoveling snow and faithfully vacuuming and dusting every Saturday morning. Andy enjoyed playing video games, especially with his nephew Trevor, his friend Peter and his great nephews and great nieces. He loved watching sports and going bowling every week with the Special Olympics team. Andy took horseback riding lessons as a child at Pride Stables, which offers therapeutic horseback riding to people with disabilities. After completing his program, he worked at Pride Stables for more than 25 years helping to care for the stables and horses. More recently, he volunteered two days a week at The Village at University Gates in the laundry department where he was loved by everyone.
Andy found love, comfort and hope in Jesus Christ and looked forward to Sunday mornings when he worshiped with his church family, Pathway Community Church, who loved him and will miss him. While there, Andy loved to help with various tasks but found his niche quickly stacking chairs after the service, even if people were not quite done using them.
He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his brother Phil White (Monica), his sisters Jackie Hill (Murray) and Michelle Buck (Scott), nieces and nephews Stephanie Martin White (Jake), Jaime Hill (Mark Anderson), Jessica Loney (Jeremy), Rob White (Deanndra), Graham Hill (Charlene), Nicole Ropp (Ryan), Trevor Brooks, Katie Brooks (Chris Tellez) and great nieces and great nephews Naomi, Ava, Gibson, Ephraim, Clara, Lincoln, Eponine, Evangeline, Miriam, Abigail, Atticus, Violet, Alistair and Briar.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the medical professionals who provided such excellent care while he was at Hamilton General Hospital, Grand River Hospital, Waterloo Region Hospice and while he was being transported to each of these facilities.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 3rd, 2024 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467 from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a celebration of Andy’s life on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a reception also held at the Henry Walser Funeral Home. Those unable to attend the service are welcome to join the family via livestream: www.henrywalser.com/live-streaming
