Born in Belle River on Monday, March 16, 1942, to his dear parents, Eugene and Mildred (nee Taylor) Ducharme. Beloved husband of Heather (nee Douglas) Ducharme. Loving and devoted father of Suzanne Chruscik (nee Ducharme) and the late Stephen Ducharme. Friend and father-in-law of Henry Chruscik. Proud and cherished grandfather of Matthew and Ryan Dubeau and step grandfather of Victoria Chruscik. Charles will also be missed by his sisters, Nancy Karlison and Louella Witney, he is reunited with his siblings, the late Irene Snively, late Bill and late Raymond Ducharme. Charles will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and many friends.
Charles attended the Royal Roads Military College in Victoria, British Columbia for 2 years after high school. In the summers, he was on naval ships cruising the Pacific Ocean as far as Pearl Harbor.
Charles was a hardworking man who had many responsibilities over his working life, as a farmer, construction worker, milkman, and a factory worker. He retired after many years of service as a telephone technician for Bell Canada.
Charles loved to travel, golf, camp, watch sports on T.V., sit in the sun, be with family, be involved in the grandsons’ lives, and go on cruises with Heather and other family members.
Charles passed away peacefully at Riverview Gardens, Chatham on Sunday, October 20, 2024. Charles’ wishes for cremation has taken place. A private memorial graveside service will be held at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. Arrangements entrusted to Kendrick Funeral Home, Chatham.
