Richard “Rick” Thomas Smith
April 28, 1961 – November 4, 2024
Rick passed away on November 4th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a battle with cancer. Devoted father, husband, son, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. He will be missed by the many individuals whose lives he touched.
Forever loved and missed by his wife of 33 years, Cathy Smith; daughters Hannah and Emma; and his mother Dayle Smith. Predeceased by his father, Richard “Dick” Smith, and mother-in-law and father-in-law Regina and Vincent Burns. Brother to Don & Ron Smith. His impact will be fondly remembered by his brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Anne Burns, Margaret Burns (Greg Allen), Monica St. Pierre (Walt); and nieces and nephews, Jared St. Pierre, Laura St. Pierre (Emily Kerr), Michael Allen (Christina Bisol). His life was rich, he was deeply connected to his large extended family of relatives, friends, colleagues, and neighbours.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Booth, Dr. Kain and her Palliative Care team, Dr. Wood, and the many nurses and support staff who were so amazing during Rick’s illness. Gratitude is also extended to the many friends and family, who have supported Rick and family over the last several months.
Family and friends are invited to the Wartman Funeral Home – Kingston (980 Collins Bay Rd) for a visitation on Friday, November 8, 2024 from 6-8 pm. and on Saturday at the funeral home from 1-2 pm. A celebration of life with memories and reflections will be held at the Wartman Funeral Home – Kingston on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 2 pm., followed by a reception. Cremation has taken place, and a private burial will be held at his final resting place on Wolfe Island at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rick’s memory can be made to UHKF – KHSC Cancer Clinic. Condolences and donations may be forwarded online through wartmanfuneralhomes.com
