Phyllis Aileen Vanhorne Obituary
Phyllis Aileen Vanhorne
March 13, 1922 – March 12, 2024
It is with humble gratitude for her long, fulfilled life that the family of Phyllis Vanhorne announces her death, which occurred a day before her 102nd birthday.
Predeceased by her parents Lillian and Percy Clarke and her siblings Ralph, Jean McLean, and Clifford, she has enjoyed two years at Carveth Care Centre with her remaining siblings Irene Curtis and Grace Leakey.
Phyllis and her (late) husband Sam raised four children, Carolyn Barclay d. (Ellis d.), Margaret Pyke (Grant), Clarke Vanhorne (Heather Simpson), and Olivia Chuchryk (Ron). She has enjoyed her 10 grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren who have all kept in close contact. Her enduring spirit will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis enjoyed many friends at euchres, church, family, quilting and local events, and was a dedicated participant in any activity. Her passion for traditional hand-quilting was exceptional, and is evident in the quality and quantity of quilts she produced.
Her determination to waste nothing and accomplish something every day lives on for all who knew her.
