Margaret Mary Whitaker passed away with her family by her side on Tues Nov. 14th 2023. She was 92. Born in Port Arthur, the daughter of Margaret Anne Connolly and Henry (Hank) Smith. In her late teens she was a flight attendant and then a Registered Nurse for several decades. A wife and mother of three boys, her late husband Lorne was the love of her life and creative muse. They collaborated on beautiful stained glass works and she also enjoyed creating wonderful quilts in addition to being a golfer, avid bridge player and dedicated exercise class participant for over 35 yr
Her kind, gentle and loving spirit will live on in our hearts. She was the best Mom anyone could ever hope for. Survived by her sons Gregory, Jeffrey and Michael (predeceased), granddaughter Stephanie, grandsons Justin and Brandon, brothers, the late Harry, Sterling and sister-in-law Katherine (Kay), nephews Nelson, Kevin, Henry and Sterling.
The memorial service and reception will be held at James Reid funeral home, John Counter Blvd. on Friday December 1st with visitation at 1pm and funeral service following at 1:30 pm, officiated by The Ven. Bill Clarke. Please consider a donation to St Thomas Church 130 Lakeview Ave in her memory.
