Liliosa McNichol (nee Chuckry)
9 October, 1935 – 31 July, 2024.
It is with great sadness that we announce that Lil passed peacefully, just shy of her 89th birthday with family at her side. Predeceased by Pete, her husband of 48 years, her son Peter, and eleven of her twelve siblings, she is survived by her son Douglas (Michelle), her sister Trudy (Ken) Jones, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and even a few great, great nieces and nephews. Frequently referred to as “my favourite Aunty”… or to some of the younger great nephews – “Aunty Little”, she was greatly loved and left her marque on all of us.
We would like to thank her many helpers and care givers, Elizabeth, Maureen and Aggie of Heart 2 Heart Seniors Services, the wonderful staff at Royale Place and Cataraqui Heights Retirement Residences and the outstanding care at Hotel Dieu and KGH.
Born and raised in a tiny farmhouse in southern Saskatchewan, she snuck out the window at 17, to seek adventure in Calgary and beyond. Meeting her soulmate Pete, they married, and travelled the world, heading first to NYNY (Peter in NJ) and on to Venezuela (Douglas in Maracaibo) for eight years, with explorations across Europe and South America. Settling in Toronto to raise their family, they resumed their adventures as empty nesters, adding Australia, NZ, Africa, China and the Middle East to their long list of passport stamps, leaving but a legacy of great friendships worldwide.
Lil’s family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 2:50 PM on Tuesday 27 August, 2024 at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd. Kingston. We will celebrate her life at 3:00PM in the Chapel. The celebrations will be shared via the internet. Invitation links are available at mcnichol.estate@gmail.com
