Johan “Hans” Beskers Obituary
Johan (Hans) Beskers passed away peacefully at the age of 95 in the town he called home, Amherstview . Immigrating from Olst in the Netherlands, Hans enlisted in the Canadian military and worked as a member of their military bands. Music was always a huge part of Hans’ life playing trombone, drums and bass. Hans was a part of many bands including the Royal Canadian Marching Dragoons in New Brunswick, the Vimy band/Air Transport Command band in Kingston where he later formed his dance band: The Continentals. After a long career in the military, Hans retired at the age of 50 but continued to work in multiple Correction Institutions until his 70’s.
We like to think that Hans is back with his wife, Aaljte (predeceased) who he married July 14, 1955. Loving parents to Millie (Paul), Patti (predeceased), and John (Theresa). Grandparents to Jami, Nicole, Mariah (Dan), and Kaiden who will always cherish the memories of many Christmases spent together with the music of James Last and many Oom Pa Pa’s.
The family would like to thank the staff at Helen Henderson for their exceptional care and compassion during his years and last days spent there.
In keeping with Hans’ wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of Hans’ life will be held at a later day. If desired, donations can be made to Helen Henderson Care Centre (cheque only).
