Joan Marchand (Clendenning) August 15, 1938 – February 22, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Joan Marchand. She passed away peacefully in her 85th year, holding her daughter’s hand at Kingston Health Sciences Center.
Joan leaves behind her loving children Patricia (Alex), Michael (Hannah) and their three children, her stepchildren Kerry (deceased), Robyn (Neil) and their children, Cindy (Mike) and their children, and partner Scott, Jamie (Gilda), Kelly (Lynne) and their children.
Born in Verdun, Quebec, she grew up and completed high school, soon after found a job at CN. Joan always talked about this phase of her life, working in downtown Montreal, as an exciting time. She left CN when she started a family of her own with her husband Julius. Their marriage lasted 47 years until his passing in 2018. Mom and Dad found community and spirituality through her involvement at the Montreal Ignation centre. Mom furthered her journey and found a vocation as a spiritual director, helping people find deeper meaning in their relationship with God. A gifted listener, her kindness and compassion were felt by everyone who knew her.
We would like to thank the caring staff at Rideaucrest, who showed love and compassion in how they cared for her through this phase of her life.
Friends and family will be received at the James Reid Funeral Home 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston, Ontario, on Tuesday, February 27th at 2:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at 3:00 pm and afterward, all are welcome to the Reception Centre to celebrate her life. The Service will be livestreamed. Joan will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Mom, we will hold you in our hearts forever.
