BERNIER, John (Jean) Thomas
1932 – 2023
John passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family, daughter Judy Jones and her son Andrew and other close family, on November 30, 2023, at Bayshore TCU in Amherstview.
After many years of pain and immobility John is reunited with his beloved wife and dance partner Dorothy, along with his parents Bertha and Aimable, brothers Claude, Clovis, Alphonse and their wives, sisters-in-law June and Mable and their husbands and brother-in-law Jim, his stepsons Christopher and Garry. What a wonderful reunion for them all and the dance hall is now almost complete.
John is survived by his loving daughter Judy Jones and her son Andrew and his family. By his daughter-in-law Linda and her family. Also survived by his three sisters Velma (Jack), Giselle (Germain) and Lucille (Raynald-deceased), and by many loved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
John started working in the bush in New Brunswick with his father and brothers at the age of 12 to help provide for the family. Over his lifetime he worked at every job imaginable and became proficient in many trades, all self-taught, to become an accomplished carpenter.
We will miss his never-ending source of stories, embellished for everyone’s entertainment and his wonderful gift for making everyone smile and laugh with his cheeky sense of humour.
His depth of character was obvious from all his life’s experiences and his ease of kindness to all around him will be remembered always.
In keeping with John’s wishes there will be no service. A private family gathering will take place in the spring for the interment of his and Dorothy’s ashes.
In lieu of flowers, donations to your charity of choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
