Gus MacKay Obituary
In Loving Memory of Gus MacKay
December 3, 1950 – December 21, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Gus MacKay on December 21, 2024. Born on December 3, 1950, in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, he lived a life of love, service, and joy that profoundly touched all who knew him.
Beloved husband to Kathy for 50 blissful years, Gus was a devoted father to Morgan (Eric) and Emily (Travis) and a proud grandfather to Aarne, Sadie, and Arlo. He was a cherished brother to Robert (Janice), Claire, John (Janice), and Mary (late Murray), sister-in- law to Jeannie, and a treasured uncle to his nephew and many nieces.
A proud 35-year veteran of the RCMP, Gus was widely admired for his love for his family, his generosity, booming laugh, and a smile that could light up any room.
Gus will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, compassion and laughter will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A visitation remembering Gus will take place from 1:00 pm-4:00 pm on January 3, 2025, at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston, and a Mass of Christian Burial on January 4, 2025, at 11:00 am at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 88 Patrick Street, Kingston.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gus’ name to the Partners in Mission Food Bank, Kingston.
