Reverend Gerald (Gerry) Edward Morgan
Passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at the age of 93. He was born in Kingston, Ontario on July 6, 1931.
Predeceased by his parents, Andrew & Myrtle Morgan, and his first wife, Alice Morgan.
Gerry joyfully spent his life as an ordained minister with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada for 70 years. He started his vocational ministry as an evangelist travelling across Canada and the US, then enjoyed many years as Lead Pastor in churches within the PAOC. He pastored in Willowdale, ON, St. Catharines, ON, St. John, NB, Toronto, ON, Buffalo, NY, Woodstock, ON, Hamilton, ON, and Kenora, ON. Upon retiring, Gerald continued to support many local churches in Eastern Ontario as an Interim Pastor. During his years as a pastor, he also enjoyed being a camp meeting speaker at every PAOC camp across the country. He was involved in various radio programming over the years, and produced a television program in St. John, NB.
Gerry had a deep love for people and never tired of connecting with friends near and far. He passionately believed in the power of prayer and spent countless hours bringing his loved ones before the Lord with the firm belief that God hears and answers our prayers. He will be remembered for his engaging personality, his great sense of humour, and his powerful singing voice. Gerry’s musical ability was well known; the ease with which he played his guitar or played the piano by ear was remarkable. People may also remember him as the minister that liked to chop a double load of firewood by hand as a hobby.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Irene (Thompson) Morgan; daughters Gayle (Larry) Newman, Jeri-Leanne (Brock) Kemsley; grandchildren Justin (Kerstin) Newman, Lindsay (Steve) Presley, Brynne and Kyden Kemsley; great-grandchildren Dahlia and Aria Presley, Nathaniel and Benjamin Newman; brother Webb (Linda) Morgan. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
Private family burial to take place at Riverview Cemetery. With a Celebration of Life to be held in the spring.
Donations in memory of Gerry made to the Pentecostal Assemblies – Eastern Ontario District or to a charity of choice would be appreciated by his family. Condolences and donations may be forwarded online through wartmanfuneralhomes.com
