It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Eric Francis Welbanks, 81 of Stella, Amherst Island, on November 27th, 2024.
Eric was born in Kingston, Ontario on August 22nd, 1943. He worked for many years in a variety of Industrial manufacturing and export businesses. He enjoyed hunting, boating and traveling with family and friends. Eric was a pillar of the community and was heavily involved for over 50 years with the Kingston District Shrine Club and Shrine association. Eric dedicated much of his life to service organizations and earned his 33rd degree with the Scottish Rite. He served as a member of the Masonic Maple Leaf Lodge in Bath and earned his 60 year service recognition this fall. In addition, he held many roles with the Eastern Star. He was most happy when he was surrounded by his grandchildren at the cottage on the South Shore of Amherst Island.
Eric is survived by his wife of 57 years Linda (nee Hicks), brother Theodore (Karen), sister-in-law Joan, children Susanne (Clayton), Cheryl, and Shawn (Vicki). He will be missed by his grandchildren Erica, Trent, Abigail, Jack, Tyler and Megan. He is predeceased by both his parents Francis and Nessie, infant brother Glenn Elburn, sister-in-law Heather and brother-in-law Nolen.
Services will be held at James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston. Visitation will be Friday, December 6th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, Masonic Memorial service 6:30pm Friday December 6th. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church at Glenwood Cemetery, Amherst Island Saturday, December 7th at 2:30 pm, reception to follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
