Donald Baine Jennings Obituary
Donald Baine Jennings
“DB”
July 20, 1932 – January 28, 2024
M.D., C.M., M.Sc. (Med), Ph.D., Queen’s Meds (’57)
Emeritus Professor, Faculty of Medicine, Queen’s University
Don passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 28th 2024 in a hospital room overlooking the Queen’s campus where he spent his career and met his wife of 66 years. Don will be missed by his loving wife Gail (née Richardson), children Robert (Marie d. 2014), Beth (John), Lisa (Dexter), Hugh, eight grandchildren and his sister, Elizabeth Hooper (Donald d.2019).
Don was passionate about cardio-respiratory physiology, Queen’s University, family genealogy, hunting & fishing, duck carving and painting, and of course his family. His second home and continual project with Gail was the Crow Lake cottage (Wit’s End) and involvement in the Crow Lake community. He took joy in having “a tight roof”.
Don took particular pleasure mentoring and advocating for graduate students, striving to enhance their research experience and international exposure in order to facilitate their future success. He felt strongly about the importance of supporting academic and professional organizations and served on many of their committees.
A reception will be held at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd. on Monday, February 26, 2024, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. Please enter from the rear parking lot.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation or the Salvation Army.
