Anecita McLean Obituary
Anecita “Annie” McLean
On Saturday December 16, 2023, Anecita McLean passed away peacefully at Providence Care Hospital surrounded by her family and friends. Annie or “Lola,” as all the kids called her, was a pinnacle member of the Filipino community and loved and respected by her neighbors on Sunbury Road. Annie was well-known for her sewing, fishing, and gardening skills, and incorporating each of these skills into her daily life. She was notorious for her amazing cooking and kind, loving heart. Her generosity could be easily seen in her insistence that friends or families from afar always stay at her house rather than a hotel. All her visitors would be received with open arms and treated to a warm meal.
Anecita is now reunited with her husband Daniel McLean and her siblings. She will be loved and missed by nieces Regina, Vi, Debbie, Dianne, and Charlene, and her nephew Vaughn (Shannon). She also leaves behind her great-nephews and nieces Om, Delia, Jack, JD, and Ezra, who always called her “Lola,” as well as nephews, nieces, cousins and friends in the Philippines.
Annie is missed and loved by her close friends here in Canada, who stayed by her side and visited her everyday while she was in the hospital. Everyone will have fond memories of house parties during holidays or celebrations, camping and fishing during the spring to fall months, and her travels to multiple places such as England, Australia, the US and the Philippines. Thank you, Annie, for everything you have done for us.
A Visitation will be held at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd. on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Liturgy of the Word in the James Reid Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 10:30 am. Burial to follow at Sandhill Cemetery in Battersea. Donations in Annie’s memory to the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation – Cancer Clinic of Southeastern Ontario would be appreciated by her family.
