SEYMOUR, Kenrick (Rick) Graham, 78, of Stoney Creek, Ontario, passed away suddenly on July 1, 2024. Predeceased by his parents Kenrick and Margaret Seymour, and his brother John Seymour. Rick will be forever loved by his wife of 23 years (and friend for 52!) – his happily ever after – Paula. A loving father and grandfather, he is also survived by his children Jeffrey (Jasmine, and her daughters Ashaya and Bailey) and Amy, step-daughter Hilary (Stacey), and his three grandchildren Jasper, Sawyer, and Daisy. Sadly missed by his sisters-in-law Jean Edwards, Pamela Hachey and Elvira Meitz; by his adored cousins-closer-than-siblings William, Diana, Elizabeth Anne and Drew; and by his nieces and nephews. An easy and loyal friend, Rick leaves behind many heartbroken pals and neighbours including those from his days at Jarvis Collegiate Institute, friends he met during his career, and most recently, the Newport Cigar and Single Malt Club (trademark pending). Devoted food dispenser to Perry, Buttkicker, plecostomus A, plecostamus B and countless backyard birds. The family also sends our condolences to the order processors and delivery drivers at amazon.com for the significant reduction in workload that Rick’s passing has caused.
Possessed with a sharp wit, youthful personality, and endless curiosity, it always seemed like Rick had at least a dozen tabs open in his brain most of the time. Yet, he could converse with excitement on any subject from big ideas to cringe-worthy dad jokes. One of Rick’s biggest passions in life was music. Equipped with an encyclopedic knowledge spanning many genres, Rick loved inviting family and friends to indulge with him in the melodic sounds of his favourite artists. In his long career with the federal public service Rick worked in client service and program administration and served as President of his Local. His ability to look for a positive outcome made relationships a win-win. His sense of humour built many bridges and created long term friendships. Rick enjoyed travelling to many parts of the world, first as a young man and later in retirement with Paula at his side. Then there were the bike trips, often with no particular destination in mind, just Rick, his motorcycle and the open road.
Rick was known for his humour and his compassion, his generosity of spirit, and his heart of gold. He would like to be remembered with a smile or a laugh, and always warm memories of love.
“They that love beyond the world cannot be separated by it. Death cannot kill what never dies.” – William Penn
