McKay, Kenneth Burnett B.A., M. Ed.
Peacefully, Ken went to be with his Lord, on November 11, 2024 at Arbour Creek Long Term Care Centre at the age of 92. Predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Christine McKay and his elder brother Alex. Survived by his beloved wife Dorothy. He will be fondly remembered by nieces Linda Revill (Brian), Terry Wilberton (Leigh) and nephews Gary McKay, Brian Woodworth (Mary Jane), Dave Woodworth (Evelyn), Kit Elford (Deborah), Roan Elford (Pat) and many great nieces and nephews.
Ken received his B.A. degree at McMaster University in Hamilton and his Master of Education at OISE, Toronto. Even though a foreigner to Americans, he became President of the Puppeteers of America, Canadian representative to puppet festivals in Europe and Indonesia, and authored a book on Canadian Puppetry “Puppetry in Canada, an Art to Enchant” in the 1980’s. He was Master of Art at Toronto Teachers College until it closed and then over saw the Ministry of Skills Development for Youth Employment in Ontario. He had a good sense of humour, quick wit, and came with great one-liners. He will be missed.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held. If desired, memorial contributions to a charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
