After a long illness, stubbornly passed away December 15th 2023 Prescott, Ontario. He fought to the end as was his nature, respecting the wishes of his grandmother that every moment in life is precious.
Born in Glace Bay, Cape Breton on November 7th 1944. The son of Colin “Francy” McDonald and Mary Chauder.
Predeceased by his wife Carol “Peewee” Anderson and his brother Colin. Survived by his sister Eileen.
It was the mines or the army and Tom chose the army. He was posted across Canada and served as a Peace Keeper in Egypt among other deployments. Along for the adventure was his high-school sweetheart Carol. They raised a family of three and eventually settled in Kemptville, Ontario. Upon discharge from the army, Tom worked as a civil engineer, lastly working at the Brockville Psychiatric Hospital before retirement.
Survived by his children Christopher (Nellie), Darryl and Jennifer (Robyn).
Papa to Christopher, Birgitta and Ava, Daniel, Frances and Sam.
Missed by nephews and niece Bruce & Debbie, Colin; sister-in-law Marion and extended family and friends.
Tom was a gentle soul with an interest in history and politics on which he was always up for a good discussion and debate. Though a life well lived, he will be sorely missed.
Interment to occur Glace Bay, Cape Breton summer 2024.
