Peacefully in hospital on Wednesday, August 28th, 2024, with his loving wife and sweetheart Merushe (nee Runa) by his side.
Beloved father of Thomas Randall “Randy” Shanks (Paty) and Brad Shanks (Laura), both of Lenoir, North Carolina, USA, and Robby Kavanaugh (Sara) of Petawawa, Ontario.
Proud grandfather of Jesse (Haven), Tasha, Lola and Willy Shanks. Also survived by his sister Carolyn (Ron Paget) of San Antonio, Texas.
Predeceased by his parents Thomas Shanks and Rachel (nee Smart), his brother Richard and his grandson Kyler Shanks.
Randy will be remembered and missed by many loving nieces and nephews as well as by many friends around the world.
Randy was a ‘Man of Many Hats’ who served in the US Military for 4 years in Germany; was a home builder; truck driver; Kemptville school bus driver; and loved driving, woodworking and golfing. He believed that it was important to “Enjoy Life Everyday” and to “Not Take Life too Seriously”; he led by example, laughing, dancing and joking right up to the end.
Friends are invited to visit at the Kemptville Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry 805 Prescott Street, Kemptville on Saturday, September 7th from 2:30 pm with Words of Remembrance at 4:00 pm (Please click here for Livestream Link for those unable to attend in person).
