Lorne Verdun Phillips
Lorne Verdun Phillips, 98 of Toronto, passed away on December 23, 2023, in Ottawa, Ontario. Lorne was a kind and warm gentleman with a great sense of humour. He brought joy and laughter to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Lorne is survived by his wife of 35 years, Pat, son Richard Phillips, as well as his grandsons Jake (Amanda), Adam, Christopher (Sarah) and Devon. He is also survived by his granddaughter Emily and Sara, great-grandsons Mikey, Earl, Deklan, Philip, Mitchell Lochlany and great granddaughters, Heidi and Paige. Lorne was predeceased by his first wife, Shirley, and his sons David, Charles (Tiina), and Michael (Catherine Marie), as well as his grandson Tommy. Their memories will forever be cherished.
Lorne completed his education up to Grade 12 and valued the importance of learning throughout his life. He was proud of his service to Canada in the Army for four of his adolescent years’ operating radar attached to the British Army. He was the founder, owner and operator of Northwood Press in Scarborough, Ontario. Lorne was a 63-year resident of West Hill, Ontario, his heart stayed there despite a move to Vancouver Island and Kemptville, Ontario. He was an accomplished recreational pilot. He was the editor and publisher of CRLU found in several museums across Canada.
Interment will be held at Resthaven Gardens in Scarborough, Ontario at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Perley Health Centre or The Salvation Army. Your support will help continue their important work.
