Kim Adele Ferris June 19th, 1959 – January 24th, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kim Ferris (nee Hallam), 64, on January 24th, 2024, at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice. Kim left this world surrounded by her family.
Kim was born on June 19th, 1959, in Scarborough to Barry and Merle Hallam. She graduated from Cedarbrae Collegiate Institute and went on to complete a degree in political science at McMaster University. Kim began her professional career working at the Princess Margret hospital where she developed her love for helping others. In 1982, Kim began her journey as a communications operator with the Toronto Police Service, retiring in 2020.
Kim was known for her vibrant smile, unfaltering kindness, love for her family and positive outlook on life, which brought joy and inspiration to those around her. Kim participated in theatre, ballet, basketball, cheerleading, golf, and curling throughout all stages of her life. Her passion for embracing a healthy, active lifestyle will be remembered by all those who knew her.
Kim is survived by her husband Robert Ferris, her children, Lynsey (Andrew), Adam (Sara) and her granddaughter Payton, who made her a first time “Nana”. Kim is also survived by her parents Merle and Barry Hallam and her brother Todd (Natasha) Hallam and numerous friends who she made feel like family.
A private service will be held for close friends and family, followed by a public visitation from 3PM – 5PM Saturday February 24th, 2024, at the Boathouse Café, 646 River Road Kemptville.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Irving Greenberg Family Cancer Centre or cancer research, in her name.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the support and kindness shown during this difficult time.
