At the age of 93, Ivy passed away peacefully on Friday, September 20, 2024 at AgeCare Brant in Burlington. Beloved wife of the late Harold “Hal” Porter (2017). Predeceased by parents Frederick and Dorothy (nee Young) Smith. Greatly missed by Ivy’s care team including Susan (niece) and Don Cadeau, Margaret Leyland, Steve Leyland (Jean), Doug Leyland (Cathy), and sister-in-law Shirley Porter Johnson (Ted). Her infectious giggle and sharp wit are especially remembered by Tom Leyland (Shelagh) and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ivy had a longtime career at Westinghouse, retiring as a computer analyst. She was an avid gardener, golfer, lawn bowler, curler, member of Probus and St. Luke’s Anglican Church.
Heartfelt thanks to AgeCare Brant, especially Rosemarie, for all of their compassion and care.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Service of Remembrance will take place at St. Luke’s Anglican Church (1371 Elgin Street, Burlington ON) on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 1 PM with a reception to follow.
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ivy may be made to the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation.
