The family of Randall Charles Whitney announces his passing on January 29, 2024 at the age of 65. He was a father, brother and uncle and formerly of Prescott, Ont. Born June 29, 1958 in Banff, Alberta to Moxie and Jennifer Whitney (nee Bayrak), Randall grew up in the wake of his father’s success as a famous big band orchestra conductor. From a young age, Randall displayed a remarkable curiosity about the world, always eager to learn and share his knowledge with others. Randall’s passion for nature defined much of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and mushroom foraging. He had a love for exploring the natural environment and enjoyed adventures in his younger years in Canadian forests and lakes, tropical coral reefs and mountains of Nepal. Randall’s legacy will endure through our memories, the lessons he imparted, and the impact he had on the lives of those who know him. He is predeceased by his son Jacob Whitney; his parents Moxie and Jennifer Whitney, brothers Kenneth Whitney, Robert Whitney and George Whitney, and sister Carolyn Kirkham. He is survived by his children, Alexander Whitney, Courtland Van Laerhoven (Michael) and Stuart Whitney (Zuri); brothers Paul Whitney (Liz) and Brian Whitney (Terry); and nephews and nieces Brodie Whitney and Jamie Whitney, Robert Johnson and Gregory Johnson, Lauren Connell-Whitney and Samuel Connell-Whitney, Lindsey Whitney and Jesse Whitney. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to your local conservation authority. May Randall Whitney rest in peace. He will be remembered. Arrangements are entrusted to the Marsden McLaughlin Funeral Home in Iroquois.
