PATENAUDE, Michael “Mike”
June 26, 1949 – November 21, 2023
It is with immense sadness that we announce Mike’s passing on November 21, 2023 while at a brief six day stay in the good hands of the Osgoode Care Centre. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and friend. Mike was a proud and cherished husband of 50 years to Ginette (nee Racine). The proud father of daughter Kim (Marc LeBrun – very best son-in-law) and son Kevin (DV Arbues – sweetest daughter-in-law). The very proud grand-papa of Emma and Jesse LeBrun and Aurora Patenaude. Michael leaves behind his brothers Gerry (Lise) and Peter (Colette), sisters-in-law Rachel, Mientje (from PEI) and brother-in-law Florian Racine (late Colette). He also leaves many loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Roland and Edith Patenaude (nee Bradley), his dear sister Anna Patenaude and his brothers Danny and Larry Patenaude.
For those who knew Mike, he fought a hard battle with Parkinson’s Disease and a decline in cognitive function for many years. The years that really defined Mike started when he was born and raised in Crysler in their family home on Queen Street and he worked at the family-owned cheese factory. Later Mike would marry his best friend Ginette in June of 1973. Mike and Ginette were dedicated owners of Mike’s Service Shop and Sunoco Gas Station for many years where Mike was well known as a small engine mechanic. Mike had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone in need, no matter what time it was. His many passions in life included horses, motorcycles, cars, camping, golfing, fishing, and snowmobiling to name a few. He was a well-known Arctic Cat man and owned many unique cars like the ‘69 Corvette, Little Red Express, one-of-a-kind metallic GMC Van and El Camino.
Mike suffered physically and mentally, and over the past four months, while in hospital, he only wanted to be at home. For that reason arrangements will be made at a later date, and for now his family will be taking Mike home.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to Parkinson Canada would be appreciated by the family. If you are making your donation online or by cheque directly to the charity, please include the following note with your gift “please notify the family”.
