Surrounded by love, on the morning of Thursday, June 20th, 2024, our hearts broke as the patriarch of our family took his last breath at age 81.
Born in Sudbury, raised in the Flour Mill and a proud francophone, he was the eldest son of the late Roméo and late Madeleine (née Pitre) Bazinet. He leaves behind his beloved wife Diane (née Vézina) Bazinet and Dolorèse Duval, the mother of his children Pierre, Sylvie and Chantal Bazinet. Dearest brother of Diane Ducharme (late Frank), Richard (Bonnie) and Pierrette Zuk (Terry). Cherished “Gramps” of “The Boys” Danyk (Stéphanie), Nykola and Myka Lévesque, whom were his pride and joy. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In his younger years, the cadets instilled in him discipline, hard work and drive. He then went on to work as a proud railroader with a long career as a conductor with CN. After retirement, he donned his overalls and hat once more and gave another run down the track with the Ottawa Valley Railway. The rail was part of his blood for more than 40 years.
Those who knew him well knew he was opiniated, had a large personality and loud voice. Beneath his gruff exterior, he had the most generous, caring, golden heart and always made sure everyone was taken care of. By helping out in a crisis and providing for his family, he showed his love through acts of service. Smart, witty and creative, everyone knew we could always count on “Ti-Guy” no matter what. He valued his family above everything. He was a proud volunteer driver for the cancer center for many years and until recently was known as “Lion Guy” – a respected member of the Valley-East Lions Club. He worked many hours alongside his fellow Lions making his community a better place and always supported local charities.
Since he was a teen, the magic of the French River was an integral part of his life; he was at his best at his beloved cottage where he loved to be surrounded by his family and nature. He was always in awe of the glorious sunsets. We could always find him in his work clothes either tending to his gardens, apartment buildings, tinkering in his garage, helping the grandchildren… and despite his strong work ethic, he knew to take a break every day at 4pm for “Happy Hour”!
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Cooperative Funeral Home, 222 Lasalle Blvd., Sudbury, on Thursday, July 4, 2024 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Interment at 1pm on Friday, July 5, at the family plot in the LaSalle Cemetery.
Many thanks to the 7th floor staff at HSN and to his whole medical team.
