It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary (Maura) McGuinness (nee McGorrian) at McCormick Home London, Ontario. Our mom was born in Belfast Northern Ireland on March 7 1936. In June 1972 our mom and dad imigrated to Hamilton, Ontario, to raise their two daughters away from the troubles in Northern Ireland. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Geraldine Galvin (son-in-law Patrick (deceased) and Joanne Petersen (son-in-law Niven), her grandchildren Conor Galvin, Siobhan Galvin (Sebastian), Kieran Galvin, Brendan Petersen (Paige) and Alex Petersen. Mom had a special bond with her son-in-law Niven, whom she loved more than anything and our dog Winston, whom she adored. She is survived by her brothers Tom (Geraldine) in England, Ray (Ingrid) in Hamilton, Pat (Eileen) in Dubin and her sister Anne (Dan Deceased) in Belfast. She is also survived by sister in laws Annie McGuinness, Belfast, June McGuinness, Burington and Mary Rooney, Australia along with many nieces and nephews in Ireland, Australia, England, US and Canada. While we will miss her dearly, we know she is where she wants to be, reunited with her beloved husband Joe (deceased July 1992) and her son Raymond (deceased 1968). We are grateful for the loving care she received from the staff at McCormick home. She loved them all and they loved her.
Donations to the McCormick Care Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
Per mom’s wishes there will be no funeral. A private service will be held for her immediate family. She will be buried in Hamilton along side her beloved Joe.
