McKelvie, Hugh
Passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024 at The Village of Wentworth Heights in his 97th year. Predeceased by his loving wife Mildred (1998). He will be missed by his children Rick, Ron (Heather), Beth (Scott), and Hugh Jr. (Morag). Poppi of Matthew (Allison), Michael (Julee), Justin (Alexandra), Ryan (Brittany), Ann-Majella, Sara, Megan, and Jennifer. Great-grandfather of Jordyn, Raven, and Linden.
Hugh was a World War II Infantry Veteran, and joined the Royal Canadian Navy after the war. He then spent his early years traveling, before returning to Hamilton in 1952. After 37 years as an electrical foreman at Stelco, he enjoyed his retirement with family and began traveling again in his 80s until just recently.
Special thanks to the staff of The Emma Neighbourhood at The Village of Wentworth Heights, and Luciana for their care and compassion.
A private family service will be held. The Family invites friends to a Celebration of Hugh’s life starting at 4:00 pm on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Ye Olde Squire at 550 Fennell Ave E, Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hamilton General Hospital.
