It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gennaro Saraco on October 15, 2024, in his 88th year. Gennaro peacefully passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of more than 62 years, Angela, whom he shared a wonderful and fulfilling life. A loving and cherished father to his son, Nick (Déspinae) Saraco and daughter, Luisa (Craig) Andrews. Proud, loving Nonno of Anthony, Natalie, Jonathan, Katharine and Nicholas. Dear brother to Liberata (the late Nicola) Crutuzzola, Erminia (Domenico) Rubino, Aurora (the late Domenico) D’Amore. Cherished brother-in-law to the late Tommaso (Chellina) Battista, Vito (Lina) Battista, Vittoria (Alfredo) Demarinis, Joanne (John) Sinai, and the late Dominic (Rose) Battista. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Born in Gagliato, Italy, Gennaro immigrated to Canada as a teenager, where he embraced his new home. He lived a life of kindness, patience, and hard work, generously providing for his family. He retired in 2001, after 45 years of dedicated service to Ford Motor Company. He loved being home, where his door was always open to welcome friends and family. Warm oceans and sea breezes were his weakness, as many vacations were spent on the beaches of Aruba, Greece and Italy with family. A special thanks to Dr Gregory McGill at McMaster Family Practice. His compassion and care of Gennaro will not be forgotten by his family. The family asks that those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the Cancer Society in Gennaro Saraco’s name. Visitation will be held at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St E, Hamilton, on Tuesday, October 22, from 2-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday October 23rd, 2024 at All Souls Roman Catholic Church, 21 Barton St. W. Hamilton, 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery – Our Lady of Victory Mausoleum, 600 Spring Garden Rd Burlington, ON
