Arnold, Frank Emile Carrington
Passed away peacefully Monday October 21, 2024, in his 98th year. Frank was born on July 30th 1926 in a small town called Paignton, close to Torquay in Great Britain. After an apprenticeship with the Royal Navy he rose to the rank of Chief Petty Officer serving with dignity in the Korean War. During a leave, he met the love of his life, Berenice(nee Jones, predeceased in 2019), while she was working as a nurse in Bermuda. They were married in Malta where they lived while he was on active duty. Upon leaving the navy they lived in Cornwall, where Richard was born in 1957. After moving to Canada in 1958 and residing on the west mountain in Hamilton, John was born in 1959. Frank then took a position with Otis Elevator for 25 years. After leaving Otis, he became a commissioner at Mohawk College, where he proudly worked until his retirement at the age of 70. Frank always put his family first and loved to go camping and canoeing throughout the lakes and rivers of Algonquin park, or taking the family on cross country adventures from the East Coast of Canada and the US to the Western States and provinces. Frank had many interests and was an avid Yankee and Maple Leaf fan and had a very impressive knowledge of dog breeds and older classic movies. He supported many charities and was a devout advocate for the Humane Society and the protection of all animals and wildlife. Frank was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Church (now Church of the Resurrection) and volunteered his services and could always be heard singing with his deep melodic voice. Frank was truly an English Gentleman and will be sadly missed by sons Richard and John, daughter in law Brenda, grandchildren Mitchell, Emily (John), Jessica, Nicole (Matt), Andrew. Great grandchildren, Riley, Joel, Ayden, Abby, Grace, Peyton, Isabel, Aubrey, Beau and Holden. A special thank you to the staff on B3 at the Juravinski Hospital and to all the staff at St. Elizabeth Retirement Home for their kindness, love and assistance. Cremation has taken place. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday October 26, 2024 at 1 p.m. at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 1895 Main St. W.
