Foley, Ann (nee Stevens)
Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 20, 2024, in her 78th year. Ann was born on July 30th, 1945, in Hamilton, Ontario. She spent her early years moving across the U.S. with particularly fond memories of time spent in California before finally returning to Hamilton. A high school trip to New York City changed her life when she met her future husband, Norman. A few years later they were married and embarked on a life rooted in love and filled with adventure. Their lives were eventually blessed with the arrival of their three children Jason, Daryl and Christine and the house became a home. Her early working years at the Royal Bank were paused to allow her to focus on her kids who now cherish the fond memories of coming home for lunch, weekends at the market and summer picnics at the park. Ann revitalized her career as a library technician at the Hamilton Catholic School Board where she ultimately retired. In retirement Ann did not slow down but poured her energy and passion into the things she loved most, family, faith, travel, crafting and watching her beloved Toronto Blue Jays. As an active member of St. Joseph’s parish, she was a fixture at the annual Christmas Bazaar and could be found in her usual spot every Saturday night mass. She loved to do puzzles, play games and would never turn down the opportunity to dance. A particularly memorable period was the unforgettable time spent with Norman and close friends traveling across Europe on several occasions. Above all though Ann’s greatest love was her grandkids. Time spent with them or hearing about them filled her heart with joy that lasted for weeks or months after. Ann will be missed by her loving husband Norman, her children Jason (Pascale), Daryl (Cristina) and Christine (Kevin) and her eight grandkids Pearson, Lawson, Sean, Grayson, Emma, Maggie, Lia and Kathleen. The family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff at St. Jospeh’s Hospital ICU unit for their caring and compassion. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave. (Between Mohawk and Fennell) on Sunday February 25, 2024 from 1-4 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church (260 Herkimer St.) on Monday February 26, 2024 at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Online condolences can be made at www.dermodys.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ann’s name to the Canadian Parkinson’s Society. donate.parkinson.ca/site/Donation or call 1888-664-1973.
Have I told you Lately that I love you
Have I told you there’s no one else above you
You fill my heart with gladness
Take away all my sadness
Ease my troubles, that’s what you do…
