With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Rev. Amarnath Gill with a full life at the age of 92, known for his love of God and gardening. Loving husband of Rashida, and father of Rabina, Samson, Simon, Rina, and Gideon. Missed by his many beloved grandchildren: Rachel, Rahul, Joshua, Jeremiah, Janica, Jeniszka, Rebecca, Gabriella, Jessica, Janessa, Jania, Jeanisha and his favourite companion pet LeBron. Brother of Margaret, Elizabeth, Walter, Shalton, and Shakuntala. Predeceased by Ujagar, Solomon, and Esther.
Amarnath lived a life of many talents and trades, going through much adversity to bring his family from India to Canada in the 70’s. Mr. Gill was a Farmer in Punjab, also in constant pursuit of learning. Obtaining a teaching degree and Master’s in Punjabi language, he taught for many years, including teaching at a school for the blind in India. Once he moved to Canada, he continued farming while completing seminary school in Sarnia, which he used towards helping create a small Indian congregation within Hamilton. He also put in his time to serve regularly with an Indian church in Mississauga. He loved spending his time serving his church and taking care of his family and will be missed dearly.
Friends will be received at Harmony Baptist Church, 1763 Upper James St, on Saturday October 19th from 9am until the time of the Funeral Service at 10am. Interment to follow at Mount Hamilton Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers donations to Parkinson’s Canada in memory of Mr. Gill are welcomed.
