With heavy hearts, the family announces the unexpected passing of Starr Candida Willard on January 29, 2024, in Cobalt at the age of 53. Starr was born on November 17, 1970, in New Liskeard, Ontario, to Stanley and Suzanne (Gagné) Willard.
Starr was a force to be reckoned with; her perseverance and determination left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. Generous to a fault, Starr often gave to those in need without hesitation. She was known to open her heart and home to just about anyone, including her much loved furry friends. Starr had a passion for gardening and home renovation projects, where she poured her creativity and love into creating beautiful spaces for her family and friends to enjoy.
Starr dedicated 31 years to serving others at Community Living Temiskaming South. Throughout her tenure, she demonstrated an unwavering commitment to supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities. Starr was known as a fierce advocate, ensuring her clients received the care, support, and resources they needed to thrive.
Starr’s advocacy extended beyond the workplace; she was a strong voice for those who often went unheard. If you found yourself in trouble, you wanted Starr in your corner. Starr’s profound legacy will continue to inspire others to stand up for what they believe in and to help those in need. Her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Starr’s most cherished and fulfilling role was undoubtedly that of a devoted mother to her children, Hailey and Sylar. Her love for them was immeasurable and knew no bounds, woven deeply into every fiber of her being. Starr’s memory will continue to live on through the love and strength she instilled in them.
Starr is survived by her children, Hailey (Zachary) Cole and Sylar Berube; her mother, Suzanne Willard (Gagné); her nephew, Logan Willard; her niece, Shawnisty Willard; her brother, Shawn Willard; and her friends, Kathy Lepage, James Rouse, and Dan Berube. She was predeceased by her father, Stanley Willard, and her two heavenly babies, Ryan-Dan and November-Starr, whose loving embrace gently guided her to heaven.
Let her presence in our hearts be as constant and comforting as the stars in the night sky, guiding us with the perpetual glow of her memory. May her namesake remind us of her eternal light, and sparkle with the beauty of her essence.
If you look for her, she won’t be far—
you’ll find her twinkling among the stars.
