Peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday May 21, 2024 at the Blanche River Health – Kirkland Lake Site, Shirley Misner passed away at the age of 89 years.
Loving and devoted wife of the late Bruce Misner, beloved mother of Garry Gourley (Pam MacFarlane), Susan (Ray) Olsen, Kim (Danny) Watchorn, Darren (Kim) Gourley, stepsons Barry (Barbara) Misner, Robert Misner & families. Shirley is also survived by her special daughter Madelene Gourley. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Kristopher (Victoria) Gourley, Keith (Melissa) Gourley, Katrina (Frederic) Langlois, Garrett Coderre (Thomas Sasseville), Krystyna Gagnon and Craig Gagnon and by her great-grandchildren Edison Gourley, Evelyn Gourley, William Edmonds and Declan Edmonds
Shirley is predeceased by her son Leslie ‘Hal’ Gourley and by three infant children. She is also predeceased by her parents Albina Miller (nee Charette) and Harvey Miller, her sister Eileen Harrasemchuk and by her late husbands Donald Gourley and Spencer Broome.
A special Thank you goes out to Management, Staff and Second Floor Nurse’s and Staff the Extendicare Kirkland Lake for the great care and compassion given to Shirley during her stay there. Also, the care and compassion of the Palliative Care Department and Dr. Foster for her care and compassion given to both my mother and myself during her last few days spent there.
Cremation has taken place at Lakeview Crematorium, Haileybury. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m, Saturday, June 1, 2024 in the Activity room at Extendicare Kirkland Lake, 155 Government Rd. E. There will be a light luncheon served after the Celebration of Shirley’s Life. Interment will take place at Elk Falls Cemetery, Campbell River BC. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to Extendicare Kirkland Lake Activity Department or Blanche River Health – Kirkland Lake Site Palliative Care unit.
