With deep sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Mr Merrill Bond at the age of 71 years. Mr Bond passed away at the Blanche River Health – Englehart Site on Friday February 23, 2024 with his loving wife by his side.
Merrill was born in Englehart on October 19, 1952 to Marilyn Rock and to Merrill Bond. He was a train engineer for Ontario Northland Railway for 32 years and a proud member of the BLE. Upon his retirement, Merrill found more time to enjoy and devote himself to the things he loved such as fishing, hunting moose, collecting guns and giving his time to be the Reeve of Charlton for 12 years. Merrill was a man with a big heart always putting the needs of others before his own. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend to many. His presence will sorely be missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him.
Merrill is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years Karen Bond (nee Bailey) and by their sons Jeremiah Bond and Trevor Bond. Merrill is also survived by his brothers Stephen Bond, Darwin Bond, by his mother-in-law Betty Bailey and by his extended family members. He is predeceased by his parents, by his brother Michael Bond, his father-in-law Reg Bailey and sister-in-law Debra Swanson.
Merrill’s final care has been entrusted to the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home – Englehart Chapel. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice. Condolences and tributes can be left at www.buffamleveile.com
