Herb Beatty of Kenabeek passed away unexpectedly on June 6, 2024.
He was born in Weston, Ontario to Earl and Doris Beatty (both predeceased) and grew up in Kerns Township, Milberta. He is survived by his sisters Elizabeth Pahkala (Michael), Patricia Peddie (Lewie Sr. deceased 2019), Beverly Foley (Steve), and Audrey. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and two Aunts.
Herb was an avid lover of the outdoors, and enjoyed many years of hunting, fishing, and trapping with friends and family members, following in his father’s footsteps. Entertaining hunting stories would always be shared following a successful (or unsuccessful) moose hunt in the fall.
He travelled the country where he lived and worked in a few different towns including Hines Creek (Alberta), Peace River (Alberta), Haines (Alaska), and White River (Ontario) before settling in Kenabeek in the house he and his Dad built in the early 80’s.
It was here he called ‘home’ for more than 40 years, living a quiet, country life. He had a soft spot in his heart for cats, and even when surprised with a litter of kittens they would all be well loved.
Herb’s family was not expecting his life to end so suddenly and are devastated by the loss. They will continue to share those ‘tall tale’ hunting and fishing stories regularly to keep his memory alive. Cremation has taken place.
