Father, brother, uncle and great friend, Gilles Rivard’s life didn’t come to an end with his death. Gilles passed away on September 25th, 2024 at the age of 76. Born March 18th 1948 to Marie-Marthe and Emile Rivard. After a courageous battle with dementia surrounded by family and friends who will continue to honor his love of life by living their lives to the fullest, as he would wish.
Gilles spent his life being a trucker with his nickname “Catfish”, working mostly for Conray Dymond. Gilles loved to go shopping at Thrift stores, hang out at the restaurants to chat and drive around the back roads exploring. He loved to sing and always said he missed his calling. His dream wad to be surrounded by Mick Jagger and Tina Turner and be as happy as can be. Dad had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities and loved to share the wealth of laughter. Gilles is survived by his 2 beautiful children, his daughter Monique, his son Derek, also a granddaughter MacKenzie.
He was fortunate to be loved and cherished by his siblings Marie-Paul Lacombe and Gerald, Jeannine Gosselin and Raymond, Jean- Guy Rivard and Yvonne, Real Rivard and Lyna, Rejean Rivard and Lise, Colette Levesque et Gaetan, Francoise Cayouette, Paul – Emile Rivard et Diane, Lise Plante et Marcel. Also by his nephews and nieces he loved to hang with, play sports with, joked or just hang out.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 11am to 6pm on October 5th, 2024 at the Earlton Arena, please dress casual, jeans just like my beautiful dad. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the NBRHC FOUNDATION, (foundation@nbrhc.on.ca). Condolences and tributes can be left at www.buffamleveille.com
