Peacefully at the Temiskaming District Hospital on Friday, February 9, 2024 Evelyn Marlene Davies of Haileybury passed away at the age of 78. Beloved sister of Margaret (Leo) Despres, Rita (Raymond) Lafleur, Robert (Rosemary) Davies, Carol Culhane and dear friend Shawneen Devitt. Predeceased by her mother Aldea Davies (nee Yelle) 1969, her father Gordon Davies, 1993 and her infant brother. Forever remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Evelyn trained as a RNA in Haileybury at the Misericordia Hospital 1963 -1964. She worked at the Haileybury Hospital, but soon moved to Toronto to work at the Cripple Children Centre, and then at Mount Siani Hospital. She struck out on her own in a private practice and ended her career working in a group home. Evelyn relocated in Haileybury in 1993. She donated much of her time volunteering at Northern Star. From 1993 to the present, she offered a good home to her boarders / students from Northern College. Evelyn won many trophies in ballroom dancing. Her favorite pastime was reading, sewing her many dance dresses, tending her raspberry bushes, enjoying her flower beds, talking to her friends on the phone. Cats were always very pampered under her care. Her latest furry friend was Patches. Evelyn wants you to look for her in rainbows. Special thanks for the compassionate care Evelyn received from Dr. Philip Smith, nurse Rita, the staff at the Haileybury Medical Clinic, Dr. Lacasse and the staff at the Temiskaming District Hospital, Home Care and PSW’s who provided excellent care. A special thank you to all the generous souls who facilitated Evelyn’s last months, especially Shawneen Devitt. Cremation has taken place at Lakeview Crematorium, Haileybury. Friends will be received at Buffam Leveille Funeral Home-Haileybury Location 705-672-3122 on Friday, February 23rd from 6-8 pm. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 24th at 11:00 am at St-Croix Catholic Church, Haileybury. Interment in North Cobalt Catholic Cemetery at a later date. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Pet Program at Northern College, Haileybury. Online condolences accepted at www.buffamleveille.com
