Grindlay, William Dewar, loving husband of Sharon for almost 54 years, father of Amanda (Michael) of St. Jacobs and Brian (Leigh) of Burks Falls. Brother to James of Brampton. Proud grandfather of Andrew, Gillian, and Claire. Bill passed away on January 16, 2024 at Mariposa House Hospice.
Bill enjoyed a successful career in Construction and Project Management. An avid sailor, he captained “his crew” (the family) aboard Abracadabra – a 30 foot Mirage throughout Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence river for many memorable summer vacations. Bill was heavily involved during Brian’s hockey years as a volunteer with the Streetsville Minor Hockey Association, both as team manager and on the executive board. After retiring to the cottage on Sparrow Lake, Bill became involved with the Washago Seniors, arranging many travel excursions for the group for many years. Bill and Sharon spent their retirement traveling the world on the cruise ships of Holland America.
Bill’s final wishes were to be buried with his family at Streetsville Cemetery in Mississauga.
A small family gathering will take place in Gravenhurst.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Mariposa House Hospice.
