With heavy hearts we announce that, following a massive stroke, Glen passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Joseph Brant Hospital, on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the age of 89. Wonderful and fantastic husband to Marilyn (nee Carder) to whom he was married for 67 years. Beloved father to Nancy (Scott) McCammon and Sandra. Adored grandfather to Laura (Mike) Tripp and Glen and phenomenal great-grandfather to Natalie and Clara.
Glen started his career at “The Bell” in Toronto and then decided to take his love of technology into the classroom. The family relocated to Burlington where he began his career as a high school electronics teacher with the Halton District School Board, teaching for many years at Burlington Central High School. It was during this time that Glen completed his BA at McMaster University. Glen was incredibly smart, kind, funny, and thoughtful. He was always teaching us and others about the many things he was passionate about. He was an avid woodworker (well known for his carved Santas) and cook, and always looked for ways to help others. He volunteered for many years at Joseph Brant Hospital and St. Luke’s Church and cared for those around him however he could.
As per Glen’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral Service will be held at St. Luke’s Anglican Church (1371 Elgin Street, Burlington) on Saturday, April 6th, 2024 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow at the Parish Hall at noon. Those unable to attend the service are welcome to join us at the reception. Interment at St. Luke’s at a later date.
We would like to send our heartfelt thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff of the Joseph Brant Hospital ICU, especially Jocelyn, who supported Glen and our family through his final days. A special thank you also to the staff of The Village of Tansley Woods and Cheyene from Bayshore for the care they have given Glen and our family.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Joseph Brant Hospital would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
