Peter Francis Welling Obituary
Welling, Peter Francis – Passed peacefully, on Saturday March 23, 2024 at the McCall Centre, Etobicoke. Peter, in his 89th year, husband of the late Carol Ann Welling (2019). Loving father of Debby (John) Wallischek and Janet (Mario) Spiteri. Loved grandfather of Lily. Dear brother of the late Fred (Anne) and Peggy (Brian) Smithers. Fondly remembered by his nephews; Rick, Bob (Cathy), Michael (Renee), Tom (Donna) and the late Warren (Vivian) and by his cousin Joan Parsons.
Peter received his Association of Professional Engineers for Ontario Oct 24, 1958, after graduating from a London University (Great Britain). He started his 33 year career for Northern Electric or Nortel in a management/supervisory position. He was a key participate in the Meridian Mail MP-3 and SP-3, in which companies are still using today. Peter was an essential part of the Georgetown Optimist Club, being a Secretary, Treasurer, Lieutenant Governor, and President multiple times over his 40+ years. Peter was also a member of the choir of the Knox Presbyterian Church, member of the Chess Club and an avid volunteer for Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills (C.A.S.H.H.). Peter will be forever remembered by his family for his love of reading and classical music, sense of humor and for being a very knowledgeable, caring, giving, genuine and out-going person.
Friends will be received at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown (905) 877-3631 on Thursday April 4, 2024 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service in the chapel at 11 a.m. Reception to follow in the Trafalgar Room. Memorial contributions to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated.
