Benjamin Murray Obituary
Benjamin Norman Murray
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Benjamin Norman Murray on July 3rd, 27 years young. He was deeply loved and will be missed by his mother, Sandra Murray; father, Norman Murray; sister, Lindsay Murray; Grandmother, Catherine Murray and extended family, Cliff Breen, Matthew McGivern, Taylor Breen, Katelyn Breen (Dinesh) and Kayla Robinson. Ben had many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly including his Uncle John, who’s unwavering dedication on almost a daily basis to Ben’s well-being continued through the many lives that Ben seemed to live.
Ben was very active and athletic. He was as fast as a gazelle. He excelled in hockey, soccer, baseball, as well as loving bocce ball and karate. He loved skateboarding, snowboarding, riding his bike or unicycle and even scuba diving. He was enamored with anything to do with science and would often quote scientific facts. He was brilliant beyond his years.
Family was important to Ben which provided some of the happiest times of his life from going to cottages to family events.
He loved, and felt very in touch, with nature.
Ben engaged with people and took time to get to know them and left an imprint on every person he met. He has truly inspired other people’s lives with his never-ending advocacy to remove stigma from addiction and mental health, as he struggled to find his own joy.
With a heart of gold, Ben always gave to others, often when he had nothing himself but wanting to help someone.
He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Family and friends will be received at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown (905) 877-3631 on Saturday from 2-5 p.m. A Celebration of Ben’s Life will be held in the chapel on Sunday July 14, 2024 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow at the Knox Presbyterian Church Hall, 116 Main St. S., Georgetown.
In lieu of flowers we are asking for donations for the beautiful people who were active in supporting Ben over the years, at: Withdrawal Management Center or to CMHA Peel.
