Jim McReynolds Obituary
McReynolds: James (Jim) Leonard
October 8, 1944 – April 4, 2024
With heavy hearts we bid farewell to Jim who passed away peacefully in his 80th year while at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre.
Jim was the son of Cecil and Teresa (Norris) McReynolds.
His working life began on a survey crew in the Kingston area. He returned to Howe Island to work on the family farm and then was employed for 20 years on the Howe Island county ferry as an operator. After retirement from the ferry he continued to operate the farm and also enjoyed driving a school bus transporting high school students from Lansdowne to Regiopolis and also to various sporting events. Jim also had a part time trucking and snow plow business on Howe Island. He was a devoted volunteer supporting St. Philomena’s church, the Knights of Columbus (achieving Grand Knight) and the Howe Island Fire and Rescue (over 35 years). The centre of Jim’s life was always his family, JoAnne his loving wife of 38 years, his daughters Christa (Greg Evans) and Kerry (Tony Santone), and his Granddaughters Shae and Brynn Evans. He loved attending their sporting events and family trips to Florida. He will also be mourned by his brother Joe (Brenda), his sisters Dorothy Humphrys (Brian) and Marg, also his former sister in law Margaret. Also lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews Michael, Catherine (Jonathan), Kate (Chris), Dave (Kelly), Erin, Simon (Jessica), and Sebastien, Lucas, Clara and Ben. Will also be missed by the McConnell, Dwyre and Norris families. The family would like to thank Howe Island Fire & Rescue, Frontenac Paramedics and staff at KHSC, especially Gina in the ICU.
The family will receive friends at the Tompkins Funeral Home 63 Garden St. Gananoque on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held in St. Philomena’s church Howe Island on Thursday April 11 at 11am. Interment St. Philomena’s cemetery. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations to Howe Island Fire & Rescue would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences please go to www.tompkinsfuneralhome.ca
