Rilestone, Nan Beattie (Pope) 1935 – 2024
Nan Beattie Rilstone of Fonthill passed away at the Welland Hospital with her loving family by her side on Monday, October 7, 2024 at the age of 89.
Born in Summerside PEI, Nan moved to the Niagara area from Montreal in 1983.
Nan is predeceased by her parents, Reginald and Adele Pope, her husband Mel, her siblings George, Mary and Peter and sister-in-law Georgie. She is survived by her sister-in-law June Pope and six nieces and nephews; Bill, Heather, Neil, Nancy, David and Jim. Also by her step sons Peter, Michael, David and Paul and their families in Ontario.
Nan and Bill belonged to Sawmill Golf Club for 25 years and enjoyed several years as snow birds in Florida, as well as cruising the Caribbean. In her later years, Nan joined different bridge groups in the area, and was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Welland.
In keeping with Nan’s wishes cremation has taken place. A private interment will be held on a later date at Pleasantview Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association.
