Hermann, Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Mary (nee Hogarth)
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Kathy Hermann at Brightshores Health System Owen Sound, on December 26, 2024 in her 82nd year. Beloved wife and best friend of 64 years to Rolf. Mother of Ray (Lena Dutton), Michael (Vanessa) and Trish Bowden (Jeff). Much-loved Oma of Stephanie, Brandon, Katie (Ryan Helfer), Kyle, Matthew, Chris, Sarah and Julia. Treasured Great-Oma of Skylar, Ocean, Storm, Blake, River, James and Scarlett. Missed by her sisters, Betty (Margaret) Whiteley and Barb Staunton, and her nieces and nephew. Predeceased by her parents, sisters Hazel and Doreen, in-laws, and lifelong best friend Elaine Pohl. Her dogs Zachary and Darcy will see her again for walks, treats and cuddles.
Born in England in 1943, she moved to Canada in 1953, where she was a long-time resident of Oakville until retiring to Markdale in 2001. Kathy met Rolf in 1958 in Oakville and they quickly became high school sweethearts, lovingly inseparable for their long life together. Kathy excelled and worked her way up in the printing industry, but home was where her true passion laid. She was an incredible mother and Oma. Family was everything to Kathy, from supporting her children, cooking incredible meals or hosting family events. Being surrounded by her loved ones always warmed her soul. Kathy was an avid gardener and cherished the home she and Rolf built in the forest to share with their extended family. They enjoyed travel and scuba diving. She was funny, feisty, full of life, fiercely protective, ruled with a wooden spoon and called a spade a spade. Her light and presence will be greatly missed.
Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Grey Bruce Health Services Foundation (Markdale or Owen Sound Hospital) would be greatly appreciated.
