Mommersteeg, Evan Daniel
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Evan on June 21, 2024 at the age of 27.
Loving, mischievous, affectionate son of Mark and Audrey (nee Simins), brother and best friend
to Brendan, cherished grandson to Corrie Mommersteeg and the late Aldona Siminkevicius, dear
nephew to Richard (Laurie) Mommersteeg, Michele (Darby) Kalp, Lena (Randy) Patten, and
Paul Simins. Evan will be dearly missed by his cousins Corbin (Jillian), Jordan (Heather),
Maureen (Anthony), Michael, Owen, and Griffin, and especially his friends at Community
Living Burlington. Evan is now reunited with his beloved dog, Pepsi.
Despite his challenges, Evan lived his life out loud. He had the brightest personality and was
extremely social and also a quick judge of character. Some of his happiest times involved being
outdoors whether it was for a walk, roller blading with his Dad, in the family pool or up at the
cottage, listening to music, throwing one of his many balls, and engaging with the world around
him. Evan’s determined, resilient spirit will be remembered by everyone who had the privilege of
meeting him.
His infectious personality and laugh will be deeply missed.
Our deepest appreciation to the staff at Joseph Brant Hospital especially the ICU Unit, 6-North
and Palliative Care Unit.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop
light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 3-5
p.m. If desired, memorial contributions to Community Living Burlington would be sincerely appreciated by the family. www.smithsfh.com
