It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that I announce the sudden passing of my beloved sister Elisabetta (Lisa). Elisabetta passed peacefully at home on December 28, 2023 in her 68th year. She is predeceased by her beloved parents – her father Salvatore and her mother Emilia. She will be dearly missed by her sister Tina and cousins, especially Maria Candelora and Lisa Zenobio as well as her dear friends.
She was a devoted daughter and helped care for her Mother while she battled dementia. After their Father’s passing Lisa, Tina and their Mother became very close, they called themselves the three Gattine. She was always grateful for her Mother and sister’s love and support through the ups and downs in her life.
They shared their love of travelling and Lisa organized all of their family trips and adventures. She made sure every detail was covered and everything went smoothly so the trips were memorable.
She was an avid reader and her favourite authors were Agatha Christie, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Danielle Steele and Nora Roberts. She was always on the hunt for the ones she hadn’t read.
Another favourite pastime of hers was to listen to News Talk Radio 1010, she always wanted to make sure she was up to date on current affairs and she always kept me informed on what were the hot topics of the day.
Lisa was athletic in the sense she loved to ride her bike and walk almost everywhere. She made sure she rode her stationary bike six days a week to stay in shape until she couldn’t any longer.
She loved to eat and had a super sweet tooth, there was never enough icing on her birthday cakes. The sweeter the better.
Her proudest day was when she bought her first house on Horner Avenue.
Her devout Faith gave her strength and comfort and guided her through her entire life.
I would like to thank and express my deepest gratitude to Dr. Penelope Bradbury for her compassion, caring and always ensuring Lisa promptly received the medical care she required during her illness. I would also like to thank her Administrative Assistant Evelina Tomas for her dedication to her job, always responding promptly to phone calls and messages and ensuring our questions and concerns were dealt with quickly.
I will always cherish my time and memories of my beautiful sister Lisa who was also my dear friend. She was my biggest cheerleader. I will miss and love her forever. She will now be reunited with our parents in heaven in the arms of Our Blessed Lord.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at G.H. Hogle Funeral Home, 63 Mimico Avenue, Etobicoke. Funeral will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace, 3914 Bloor Street West, Etobicoke. Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.
