Rita was born August 18, 1950 in Espanola ON, and passed away peacefully May 18, 2024 at St. Joseph Continuing Care Centre in Sudbury with her best friend, Sue and family by her side.
She was preceded in death by her parents Armand Morrissette & Berthe Gendron, her loving sister Andrea Duplessis (Morrissette) and her big brother Jack Morrissette.
When Rita graduated from Espanola High School, she embarked on her dreams to help people and travel. Her first step was to attend Plummer Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste. Marie, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse. It was at Plummer Memorial Rita met some of her lifelong friends and she spoke of her Plummer memories and ‘reunions’ often. Upon graduation, she had the opportunity to travel and work as a nurse in Australia; when she returned to Canada she embarked on a long career in nursing and helped many patients through advocation, kindness and compassion.
Rita will be greatly missed by her daughters, Sarah and Jocelyn Bennett, and her grandchildren, Sophie Lahaie, and Connor Annett. She will always be fondly remembered by her niece Candice Villa-Brockway (Duplessis).
