We are deeply saddened to announce that Ed passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, at the age of 93. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Kitty (nee Keys); he will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Meredith, son-in-law Jim and cherished grandchildren Carson and Timothy.
Born and raised in Sydney, NS, Ed enjoyed a long career with Peacock Bros. that led him across Canada. He was a nationally certified minor baseball umpire, and a well recognized umpire instructor, in both the Alberta and Ontario. Ed was involved in church communities throughout his life and in 2009 received the Order of Niagara for dedicated service to St. John’s Anglican Church, Burlington. In his later years, he also became an avid golfer. Quick to laugh and share a story, he was loved by friends and family and will be dearly missed.
A funeral service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church (2464 Dundas St, Burlington) on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 11 am with reception to follow. A private family interment will take place at Burlington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ed’s memory could be made to St. John’s Anglican Church, Burlington or Jumpstart Charities.
