Peacefully, with family by his side, we announce the passing of Richard Edward Galley on October 25, 2024, at St. Peter’s Hospital, Hamilton, at the age of 86.
Richard will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 61 years, Betty, children Brian (Leslie), and Susan (Wayne), grandchildren Branden, and Matthew, nieces and nephews Karen (John), Michael (Susan), Catherine, Stephen (Wendy), and Mike (Jodi), and sisters-in-law Carol, and Sharon. Predeceased by his parents Edward and Edna, and his sister Barbara(Gord).
Richard was born in Toronto on June 1, 1938 and lived in numerous places in Ontario before marrying Betty on August 24, 1963 and settling in Dundas where they have lived for over 50 years. He graduated from Ryerson Polytechnic and enjoyed a successful career at Stelco in electrical engineering eventually retiring after 40 years. He was a long time member of the Dundas Lions Club and enjoyed curling, golf, travelling and was a dedicated Ticat fan.
The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff at Amica Dundas and to St. Peter’s Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion of Richard.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place. A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
