It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary with her family by her side, after a short but courageous battle with cancer, on Friday November 15, 2024. She will be forever missed by her best friend and soulmate Fred Midgley. Erin (Kevin Carter), Bobbie Little, and Rikki Prebianca were truly blessed to have such a positive, outgoing firecracker of a woman to be their mother. Beloved stepmother to Jim Midgley (Laura), Freddie Midgley Jr., and Adam Midgley (Jenny). Treasured Baba to Tayler (Colton), Abby (Nick), Claire, Robert, Carly, and Jesse. Survived by her mother Victoria Alexanders and her siblings Diana Piche, Liz Merz, Joanne Lanosky (Rick Macfarlane), Walter Lanosky (Patricia Gowland), Vicky (Dave Misuk), and Larry Lanosky (Tina). Mary will be greatly missed by her many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her father Walter Lanosky, her stepfather George Alexanders, her brother-in-law Dave Piche, and the father of her daughters, Robert Little.
Mary welcomed and showed kindness to all she met. Quick to joke, with a contagious laugh and always lending a helping hand, she brightened the lives of all she encountered. During Mary’s 30-year career with Community Living Hamilton, she was respected by countless staff, volunteers, and people within the community. She taught us all to take a firm stand for everything we believed in and to advocate for those who may not be able to for themselves.
Special thanks to Marnie and Trisha, the staff at Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Center and St. Peter’s Hospital for keeping Mary comfortable in her final days. As per Mary’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
Mary’s family invite you to join them in celebrating her life on Thursday November 21, 2024, from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at Circle of Life Cremation and Burial Centre, 100 King Street East in Dundas (additional parking at the Air Force Club).
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Community Living Hamilton or the Canadian Cancer Society.
