It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Brian James Reich on October 24, 2024, at the age of 49. Brian was a devoted father, loving husband, cherished son, and caring brother whose zest for life touched all who knew him.
Early Life and Education
Born on June 6, 1975, Brian’s youth was filled with adventure and friendship. He could often be found bombing down hills on his bike, dirt biking, or stirring up good-natured mischief on farms. His adventurous spirit led him to travel and work around the world for a year in his early twenties.
Brian’s passion for learning and the environment guided his academic pursuits. He earned his Master’s degree in Environmental Science from McMaster University and later obtained his B.Ed. from Brock University.
Career and Passions
As an alternative education teacher for the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, Brian found his calling in empowering students to embrace their true selves. Well-respected by his colleagues, anyone who worked alongside Brian knew they were in the presence of a special teacher who truly loved his career. Outside of work, he adored cycling, was a skilled craftsman restoring boats and vehicles, and indulged in woodworking projects.
Family Life
Brian is survived by his loving wife, Kaylee Wagner, and their four young children: Camden, Grayson, Bryce, and Freya. He is also survived by his parents Marguerite Botting and Bob Reich (Anne), Ron Dosman (Mary Worland); his brother Ken Reich (Elizabeth); step-siblings Joelle Broughton (Matthew) and Ronnie Dosman (Roslynn); mother-in-law Carol Diefenbacher; father-in-law Craig Wagner; brother-in-law Brandon Wagner (Colleen); sister-in-law Aimee Wagner (Jason Kraehling); and numerous nieces and nephews who will deeply miss their Uncle Brian.
Legacy
Brian’s life, though too short, was rich in experiences and love. He leaves behind a legacy of courage, curiosity, and compassion. His family will forever cherish memories of hiking conservation trails, playing “daddy monster,” and exploring nature together.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the community of Greensville, friends, and family for their unwavering support throughout Brian’s cancer journey.
A celebration of Brian’s life will be held at Liberty Way Farms, 1050 Highway 5, Dundas on June 7th, 2025, starting at 3 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to help support them moving forward: gofund.me/c9455e1e
